We left Portland at 6 AM with all of our flights right on time! I hope our schedule for the rest of this pilgrimage also stays on time. We were met by our guide, Raul, at the Mexico City airport and proceeded to board our transportation vehicle for the week... a deluxe motor coach! We rushed off to San Hipolito Church for Mass which we were able to have with Fr. Kerns in English. During his homily, he drew our attention to the story of St. Juan Diego and how Mary chose to appear to a native who feel to his knees in front of Mary. How ironic that the bishop then fell to his knees when Juan Diego revealed his tilma. I pray that we may all draw deeper into the evangilization story of Juan Diego in the next 8 days.
